  15. <p>    THOSE WHO CAN'T, TEACH. Around Harvard, a new name is
  16. cropping up as a possible successor to Graham Allison, who is
  17. stepping down this summer as dean of the Kennedy School of
  18. Government. The prospect is a former professor there, Michael
  19. Dukakis. One problem is that he is still Massachusetts'
  20. Governor. Harvard could name an acting dean until Dukakis' term
  21. ends at the end of 1990. A less likely possibility: Dukakis,
  22. given his budget woes and rebellious legislature, might resign
  23. and take the deanship this fall.

  25. <p>    DADDY'S BOY. Emboldened by his father's success, the
  26. President's son George W. Bush, 42, has his eye on the Texas
  27. Governor's mansion. A former oilman who moved to Dallas after
  28. working on his father's campaign, Bush (often referred to,
  29. inaccurately, as George Jr.) has asked friends to poll business
  30. associates, golf partners and garden-club members about his
  31. chances. The results have been less than overwhelming. "I like
  32. Junior," says one respected Texas pol, "but he's just running as
  33. Prince George, and Texans don't like that kind of thing."

  35. <p>    TALK ABOUT JUNK BONDS. The latest from the Washington joke
  36. mill: it looks as if the savings-and-loan bailout will not
  37. require Quayle bonds after all. And what are Quayle bonds? They
  38. have no principle (sic), no interest, and they never mature.
  39. </p>
  40. <p>    LOUIS WHO? The guest list for a conference on the "black
  41. agenda" that Jesse Jackson is convening in New Orleans in April
  42. includes black leaders ranging from Coretta Scott King to
  43. Washington Mayor Marion Barry. But one name -- Louis Farrakhan
  44. -- came as quite a surprise, even to Jackson, who said he was
  45. furious when he learned that the Nation of Islam leader was
  46. listed on draft schedules. Whether Farrakhan will be asked to
  47. speak remains in doubt.
